These 5 are a few of my favorites and the ones I have been reaching for the most.
First up, OPI's Second Honeymoon. It is a gorgeous pastel baby pink shade. The pictures don't really convey it but, it has a bit of a yellow undertone to it, making it a bit brighter than your typical pastel pink. Even though it does have more of a yellow undertone it looks lovely with my pink undertone skin also. For this reason, I think this is a very universal shade. This was one of the first OPI shades I ever purchased. It really brings back great memories and all in all is just a great shade. It takes about 2-3 coats to reach full opacity. With a good base coat and top coat typical wear time before it starts chipping is around 3 days. Keep in mind that almost EVERYTHING chips on my nails. This is a classic shade that any pink nail polish owner should own. I'm sure there are dupes, but like I've said it's a lovely shade. (When worn: Prepare for compliments.)
Next up, we have Essie's Bikini So Teeny. I AM OBSESSED with this color. The name is just adorable, but it's the color that really stands out. It reminds me of a lighter Wedgwood blue shade with a hint of periwinkle. It has very tiny silver shimmers running through it, which are nearly undetectable on the nail (or for my camera to pick up). It takes around two coats to be fully opaque and lasts around the 3-4 day mark before it starts to chip. This is one of my favorite nail polishes of ALL time. LOVE IT.
Who doesn't love rose gold? This is Penny Talk by Essie and is a a gorgeous metallic rose gold polish. Since it is metallic I find that it can be a little hard to work with sometimes and can look a bit streaky. It isn't horribly streaky though so I don't mind too much. It looks AMAZING with Bikini So Teeny. The contrast of the two colors is really gorgeous. Again, 2-3 coats and it usually lasts around 3 days on me.
Next we have Hard Candy's Gummy Green. This is such a great polish. It's a creamy mint with small silver and matte black glitter dots. I like to use 3 coats. It has an almost 3D like quality to it. When you layer the polish some glitter pieces are covered slightly by the base color, while other glitter pieces are more visible. Not sure if that made any sense, but trust me the overall effect is really cool. I believe these came out last year and they are very similar to the Illamasqua speckled nail polishes. I actually prefer the look of the Hard Candy polishes to those. They come in other shades too and I really want to pick up the light blue shade. This one's a keeper and typically lasts 4-5 days on me.
Lastly, we have China Glaze's For Audrey. I also LOVE the name of this polish. I'm a huge Audrey Hepburn fan. I don't really consider this polish to look like Tiffany's signature blue color. I know legally they couldn't make it exact, but instead is has a greeny-blue hue to it. This is a cream polish and I wear it quite a bit. It typically needs 2 coats ad last 3-4 days with no chips.
Sometimes, you just need to look at your nails and be reminded that Spring is coming. I am beyond sick of the cold and can't wait for Spring. Who's with me?
Thanks for reading! :)
